# Create Label

Use the Speak AI MCP server tool `create_label` to create a label, or a label group
with isGroup true.

## What does it do?

Create a label, or a label group with isGroup true. Labels are shared by the whole
workspace and are applied to transcript words with `apply_label`. A label can sit in
one group (parentId); groups cannot be nested, and a group has no color. Names are
unique among active labels under the same parent, ignoring case and extra spaces:
409 means the name is taken. Requires the labels create permission (every member by
default). The change is recorded in your Speak Notifications under Label (type
label).

## Parameters

`create_label` takes 6 parameters, 1 of them required.

| Name | Type | Required | Description |
| --- | --- | --- | --- |
| `name` | string | Yes | Label or group name (1 to 80 characters) |
| `isGroup` | boolean | No | true to create a group that holds labels |
| `description` | string | No | What the label means (up to 500 characters) |
| `color` | string | No | Label color as #rrggbb (default #0d9488). Not allowed on a group. |
| `parentId` | string | No | labelId of an active group to put the label in. Not allowed on a group. |
| `sortOrder` | number | No | Position among its siblings (0 to 1000000) |

## Behaviour

The Speak AI MCP server publishes these behaviour hints for `create_label`.

- Can change data in your workspace.
- Does not delete or overwrite existing data.
- Repeating an identical call can have an extra effect.
- Stays inside Speak AI. Does not reach other systems.
